Please tell us when you studied and which faculty and campus you were at. How was your journey after completing your studies at Universidad Europea until the creation of your project?
I completed my university studies in 2010. I did my bachelor’s degree at the Villaviciosa de Odón campus in the faculty of Economics.
After finishing my studies, I started working for multinational manufacturing companies that were leaders in their industry. I joined the finance department, where I worked on collection-related work for large institutional customer accounts.
Now, I’m working on a project for an alternative investment platform. My management role in the real estate department involves aligning the department’s interests in terms of goals, growth and direction, with the company’s business plan. The focus is on business origination that meets our technical criteria and quality investment product standards in the current market situation.
Tell us a little more about your work. What do you enjoy the most? What challenges do you face on the daily? Do you have an anecdote you would like to share?
What I like most is the link with the real economy, i.e. my work is directly related to current macroeconomic variables, mostly with two of the components of demand: investment and consumption, as well as the microeconomic needs of the final consumer and the range of preferences, disposable income, etc.
The main challenge is to find the balance between the two circumstances mentioned in the paragraph above. In reality, matching the needs of the institutional or business audience with those of the consumer or non-institutional agent is a daily challenge.
Why did you choose Universidad Europea? What values and characteristics do you think it has that have contributed to your professional development?
Holistic and independent education is highly valuable for personal competence. Moreover, Universidad Europea de Madrid tries to break away from the traditional system by implementing practical processes that are at the heart of the real dynamics of the job market.
What is your best memory from Universidad Europea?
The fundamentally practical teaching method and the approachable relationship with the teaching staff.
What advice would you give to those who have just finished their studies and are now going out into the working world?
The working world is ever-changing and is becoming even more susceptible to change. Technology and technological advancements are growing every day with more social impact, something which is setting it apart from the past. My advice is to make the most of this increased competitive advantage by incorporating the facilities to work remotely or on more innovative projects.
I also think that it is fundamental to work in something that you like, which you can only discover after experiencing fields that are not so much to your liking, even though they may be valuable. This factor, plus a process of personal reflection, are the keys to success for us all.
