Paul Lorenz Gehrig graduated from the Double Degree in Physiotherapy & Physical Activity and Sport at Universidad Europea de Madrid in 2021.
During his time at university, Paul used his free time to do sports, play rugby and take trips to the mountains or the sea to go surfing. During the summers, however, he spent his time working as a water sports instructor: sailing, canoeing, paddle surfing and windsurfing.
Thanks to his studies in health and sports, he became aware of where society is heading today, that sedentary lifestyles are becoming the norm and that the impact of human activity on our planet’s ecosystems is increasing dramatically.
His work at the water sports school therefore went far beyond teaching people to feel more comfortable in water. His role allowed him to promote healthy habits and to see water sports as a way of integrating values of conservation, as well as to start driving the transition towards sustainable development on the island.
These working days were where Mar de Fondo began, the project that won him one of three third prizes of the Second Call for Unique Alumni Grants.
