The Dogtor Animal project arose in 2009, led by our Alumni, Vanessa Carral. It is a socially-driven company specialising in animal-assisted interventions, which has a multidisciplinary team of people (experts in the animal world, health professionals and professionals in the area of education and recreation) and specially trained animals, who are in charge of creating and developing specific, personalised treatment programmes.
Their services in highest demand include Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) through which they channel the positive influence that animals can have on people’s daily actions, tasks and behaviour in to improve their quality of life.
There’s also Animal-Assisted Learning (AAL), through which they help to boost motivation for learning and facilitate the acquisition of basic instrumental skills. Their intervention dogs are role models and facilitators that help to approach school subjects in an innovative way.
Finally, Dogtor Animal tries to bring a new perspective to the world of recreation by offering Animal Assisted Recreation (AAR), which involves including one or more trained animals as playmates in recreational and free time activities.
